We have owned dogs for almost forty years; originally Labrador Retrievers and later also a border collie trained for obedience competitions, but in 2004 we fell in love with Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retrievers (“Tollers”).
We have been breeding occasional litters from our dogs since 1997. We have bred three litters of Labradors and three of Tollers. Janet joined the Kennel Club Assured Breeder Scheme in its early days and whilst, for convenience, the dogs are registered only in her name, we are very much a partnership.
After acquiring our first Toller, Tegan we became interested in showing and achieved some success with Tegan at open and championship shows. Both Tegan and her daughter Maple have won first places at Crufts.
We are members of both the NSDTR Club of UK and the Toller Club of GB and, as such, have agreed to comply with the Codes of Ethics of both clubs.
We are part of the Toller Gundog Display Team, visiting Game Fairs and other events around the country, to give gundog demonstrations and promote the breed. We also attend events such as Discover Dogs with our dogs, where we have run the breed stand and given advice on the breed.
Since the early 1980’s we have been involved in running Northwood Dog Training Club, providing obedience training for pet dogs. Janet has been the Head Instructor for many years and has acquired wide experience and knowledge of dog behaviour. John looks after the administration, accounting and web site.
