Intermediate Class

The intermediate class is held on Tuesdays from 8:00pm to 9:00pm.

It is aimed at owners that have completed a Beginners’ Course and wish to continue their dog’s training.

The intermediate class is currently split into two groups, each with its own instructor:
~ members who have only recently completed a course and are still improving the basics;
~ members whose dogs have progressed well and are ready to move on to new exercises.

The class builds on the basic obedience learned on the Beginners’ Course to achieve a higher standard.
When the dogs are ready, we also introduce some new exercises, such as an instant down and a basic retrieve.

The intermediate classes are continuous: they do not follow a fixed course format . You can come for as long as you wish and pay only for the weeks you train. Whilst dogs will benefit from regular attendance, it does not matter if you have to miss an occasional week, provided you keep up the training at home.

As with the beginners’ course, much of the training is on a one-to-one basis - each dog works in turn, while the whole class watches, listens and learns. This allows each dog and owner to progress at their own pace.

We still expect you to practise regularly with your dog at home between classes, but there is less emphasis on formal homework as the needs of each owner and dog will be different.

To join the intermediate class you will have to become a full member of the Club by paying an annual subscription. The classes then cost just £2 per week, payable at the end of each class.

After a period in the intermediate class you may be ready to move up to our advanced class
