Improvers and Intermediate Classes

The improvers and intermediate class is held on Tuesdays from 8:00pm to 9:00pm.

It is aimed at owners that have completed a Beginners’ Course and wish to continue their dog’s training.

The intermediate class is currently split into two groups, each with its own instructor:

Improvers ~ for members who have only recently completed a course. The improvers class builds on the basic obedience learned on the Beginners’ Course to achieve a higher standard. Owners and dogs can progress at their own speed and when they are ready, they then move up to the intermediate group.
This group is currently taken by Becca King.

Intermediate ~ for members whose dogs have progressed well and are ready to move on to new exercises such as an instant down and a basic retrieve. We also use different situations and distractions.
This group is currently taken by Sue King

Our Head Instructor, Janet is also present and available to answer questions or advise members with problems

These classes are continuous: they do not follow a fixed course format . You can come for as long as you wish and pay only for the weeks you train. Whilst dogs will benefit from regular attendance, it does not matter if you have to miss an occasional week, provided you keep up the training at home.

As with the beginners’ course, much of the training is on a one-to-one basis - each dog works in turn, while the whole class watches, listens and learns. This allows each dog and owner to progress at their own pace. However we also do some group exercises so that the dogs learn to behave when in close proximity to other dogs.

We still expect you to practise regularly with your dog at home between classes, but there is less emphasis on formal homework as the needs of each owner and dog will be different.

To join the class you will have to become a full member of the Club by paying an annual subscription. The classes then cost just £2 per week, payable at the end of each class.

After a period in the intermediate class you may be ready to move up to our advanced class
