If your dog has achieved a reasonable standard of obedience, but you still want to do more, you can join our more advanced classes that are held on Tuesdays evenings from 9.00pm to 10.00pm.
These classes are intended for pet owners who wish to continue to improve the standard of their dog’s training and have fun with their dog.
We introduce new exercises such as scent and sendaway, as well as building on the dogs’ obedience in lots of different situations with added distractions.
To keep the classes interesting we sometimes use fun agility equipment, such weaving poles, jumps and tunnels.
We may show you how to teach your dog to do tricks, which are both fun and help to keep the dogs’ minds occupied. Sometimes we play training based games.
The classes do not follow a fixed course format, but are open ended, so that it does not matter if you have to miss a week or two. Over a period of weeks a variety of training techniques and exercises are covered, to prevent dogs and owners becoming bored.
Many of the members have been coming for several years, simply because they and their dogs enjoy themselves. The atmosphere is friendly and new class members are always welcome. There is a wide age range, from teenagers to pensioners. Friendships are often formed that go beyond the Club, with members arranging to meet for dog walks together in the countryside. The dogs form friendships too and love to come to the class to meet their friends, both human and doggy.
Every Christmas we have a family party with lots of training based party games for the dogs
To join the advanced class you need to pay an annual subscription to be a member of the Club, but normally members will already have joined whilst in the intermediate class.
The advanced classes cost just £2 per week.
